WINTERIZE YOUR SUMMER SKIRT

I love my bright and airy summer skirts so much that I get separation anxiety during the winter months. This season I’ve decided not to part with them, but instead I am winterizing them. Plus, it’s a great way to incorporate color into my dark color palette of winter clothes. I also love to be able to mix heavier knits with lighter silks and chiffons.

Last week I was headed to the beach for lunch with my family and wanted to wear my favorite yellow Zara skirt. Rather than pairing it with a tank top and becoming a fall fashion police victim, I opted for my loose and oh so cozy grey H&M sweater.  As a fan of tennis shoes I love seeing them worked into fashion for a sporty edge. These Creative Recreation shoes kept the outfit casual and dressed the skirt down. In keeping accessories limited and not flashy, this chunky silver chain necklace from Forever 21 is perfect.

Get creative with layering. Try putting on a pair of faux leather leggings under a silky shirt for an alternative look. Once you get going you will be thankful you didn’t put your summer skirts away!
