There are many different types of face masks out there. There’s clay masks, peel- off masks and mud masks - but my favorite type of masks are ones that I can make with ingredients that I have in my pantry and fridge. My mother, who happens to have the most amazing skin ever, has been making homemade turmeric masks for years and inspired me to make my own.
That's right, turns out turmeric is not just for curry! This amazing spice not only tastes great but also has powerful healing properties, and makes a fantastic natural beauty product. In India turmeric is used frequently for beauty regimens. Brides often use this spice as a face and body scrub to help brighten their skin just days before they get married.
Turmeric not only helps brighten skin but it can also aid in reducing blemishes, even out your skin tone, and also help fight wrinkles.
3-table spoons yogurt
2 teaspoons honey
1. Mix together turmeric, yogurt and honey until smooth.
2. On a clean face apply a thin layer of the mask and let it dry for 15-20 minutes.
3. Rinse off with lukewarm water and gently scrub with your fingers to remove the mask.
4. Finish by applying your favorite moisturizer or face oil.
You’re probably wondering if this will stain your skin and make you bright yellow. If you use too much turmeric there is a good chance you will be orange or yellow. That’s why I recommend using very little turmeric and only applying a thin layer. Obviously, you will be slightly yellow, but that fades quickly. Just make sure you're not applying this mask right before a hot date or social engagement. Do you think you’re brave enough to give this mask a try?
