Did you know that the average woman leaves the house with over 130 chemicals on her body, which are then absorbed into her skin? Scary thought isn’t it? As more studies are done on the toxicity of many beauty and personal care products, women like myself have been turning to more natural products or products that are more safe on the skin. Not to mention environmentally friendly as well. Its also good to remember that we also put these products down the drain, and it eventually ends up in the ocean.
In my search for finding more natural and safe skin care products I’ve started to become aware of the amount of chemicals listed on the ingredients label. I try to keep in mind that just because the label says its “Organic” that it is not a guarantee that the product i'm about to purchase is chemical free. One of the scariest chemicals I try to avoid as much as I can is Paraben. Parabens are chemical preservatives that have been identified as estrogenic (promoting estrus), and disruptive of normal hormone function. Exposure to external estrogens has been proven to show an increase in the risk of breast cancer in women. So, make sure you Look on the label for ingredients like methylparaben, isoparaben, butylparaben, or propylparaben.
Natural products on the other hand have the ability to heal your body externally as well as internally. When they are absorbed through the skin they can help correct free radical damage, increase the blood flow to your skin and increase collagen levels. Natural products can also help to repair discolored skin, naturally tighten your skin, get rid of fine lines and wrinkles, and protect your skin from the environment.
I think that for every chemical filled beauty product out there available to us there is a safe and natural substitute. Whole Foods has become my go to for natural body and skin care . Their products are not only affordable but my skin and hair have never looked and felt better. Here are a few of the daily products I like to use.
Try them today and I promise you will be doing your body and the planet a solid!
