It's a little sad when you realize that you favorite and trusted mascara is on its last limb. Sometimes mascara will start to "die" prematurely. The brush becomes thick with dried mascara, it clumps as you apply to your lashes and then it flakes onto your face. Do not fear there are a few tricks you can perform to bring it back to life. One thing you need to consider first is that the mascara might actually be gone. So if this doesn't work, then you know it's time to get a new one.
The first thing I do is give the brush a really good rinse. Run hot water in your sink and using your index fingers and thumb rub out all the dried product out off the brush.
Before you return the brush back into the tube, grab some baby oil. Carefully drip a few drops into the opening of the tube. The baby oil is safe and works excellent as a lubricant and moisturizer. Now return the brush back to the tube and give it a few pumps before tightening it.
Now get a glass of hot water filled about 1/3 of the way. Place the mascara in the water for 15-20 minutes. The heat will help loosen any dried mascara and literally "melt it".
When you take the tube out of the water place it between your palms and roll vigorously as if you were starting a fire.
Now it's time to test it out!
(Keep in mind though, it is wise to replace mascara every 3-6 months, depending on usage.)
