DIY GEL MANICURE

DSC00546.JPG

I really do love a good salon gel manicure. I love the look, the longevity and how they ultimately keep my nails from breaking. With proper care of your nail enamel you don't have to sacrifice your nail health.

But I'm not here to talk about your nail beds health. I want to talk about getting that long lasting, salon worthy, gel mani at home. For a fraction of the cost might I add! I'm not going to lie, I love treating myself to a manicure but they don't come cheap and sometimes it’s just easier to do it at home.

Sally Hansen has a great 2-step system and doesn’t require light curing. Its virtually fool proof. Even If you can’t paint your nails you can still get this perfect manicure.

I do have a couple tips and suggestions to reach full potential.

• Before you apply the first coat make sure that your nails are clean and free from any oils and lotions that can interfere with the polish bonding to the nail.

• I have noticed it is best to apply 3 thin coats of the color and then 2 thin coats of the topcoat. Make sure they are THIN coats.

And one final thing I love about this polish is, unlike salon gels that you have to soak your nails in acetone to remove; Sally's gel polish comes off pretty easily and quickly.

Go pick up your favorite color and get painting!
