WATER COLOR NAILS

Unless you live under a rock, you are well aware of the current nail art trend. I'm so obsessed that I  follow way too many nail art accounts on Instagram to count. Some of the designs I've seen are really intricate and impossible to DIY, but that doesn't mean I'm not hell bent on finding ways to create my own design.

I found this ESSIE Water Color kit at CVS the other day and I practically raced home to test it out. The kit includes four different polish colors.   One white polish that you use to create a base, or "canvas" we will call it, and 3 other colors that are designed to blend and blur to create that water color look. I decided to go crazy and create a tie-dyed design.

I started off by applying 2 coats of white polish for my canvas. The white is important because the colors on their own are too transparent to show and won't have the same result.

From there I started with another color and made quick light strokes on each nail. Then I selected the second color and repeated the same light strokes. Some slightly covering the other color and some at the tip. Then, you guessed it, I did the same with the third color. I repeated this step alternating colors in random placements until the white polish was covered and I was pleased with the result.

I love this kit because you don't have to be a skilled artist or very good at painting your own nails. The results come out looking intricate and professional. Don't forget to finish with a top coat.

And there you have it, a work of art on your fingertips!
