Summer to me means hot weather and low maintenance beauty. After all, with warm temperatures the last thing I want to do is spend time heat styling my hair and piling on make up just to walk outside and sweat it all off.

Instead, I find myself barely spending time rubbing on tinted moisturizer and air-drying my hair. Don’t think for a minute that I sacrifice a stylish “do” just for convenience. There are plenty of ways to achieve that “I spent an hour on this hair” look with minimal products and just a few minutes. Now you can stay at the beach or pool all day and still look hot!

Beachy Waves

Kate Hudson is the matriarch of this effortless and gorgeous style. I love the sexy subtle waves with the perfect amount of volume. To achieve this look is simple. All you have to do is towel dry your hair and while its still damp, spritz a generous amount of Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray and tousle your hair. For added texture, twist sections of hair around your fingers and simply let the hair do its things. If your hair tends to frizz you can use a little John Frieda Frizz Ease to help tame your tresses.

Messy Un Done Pony Tails

This is one of my favorite hair dos right now to do when I am feeling extra lazy or my hair is slightly dirty. To get this look flip your head upside down and spray hair with dry shampoo. I like to use the Its a 10 Dry shampoo and conditioner. This is going to eliminate limp hair and give it some texture and shine. I also recommend using a volume boost powder on your roots for that extra tousled messy look. Next, side part your hair, gather hair at the nape of your neck and fasten with an elastic band. Finally, using your fingers gently pull hair upwards around the crown of your head.

Alternative look: Rather than a pointy tail, loosely gather your hair at the nape of your neck. Begin twisting and wrapping hair into a lose bun and secure with bobby pins. Allow some pieces around your face to hang out.

Side Fishtail:

I cannot wait for my hair to get a little longer to pull off this side braid. Fish tails are my favorite for a messy look. This can be done wet or dry, but will look so chic no matter what. Remember to leave some pieces lose. If you don’t know how to do a fishtail braid there is an awesome tutorial here —>

When you have completed and fastened the braid pull on the sides of the braid to mess it up a bit.
