We all know that Milk is an important part of our diet, but did you know it has other uses and benefits too?

In my recent quest to nourish my dry skin I discovered the most decadent way to quench my skins thirst. I decided to bathe in MILK! That’s right, this indulgence isn’t only from women like Cleopatra, who was known to bathe in milk regularly. Women have been bathing in it for centuries! The lactic acid in milk, alpha-hydroxy acid, helps to clean the skin and remove dead skin cells. It won’t irritate or strip your skin; in fact it’s actually very soothing. The milk is also full of vitamins and minerals, which can also aid in slowing down the process of aging.

To enjoy this delicious bath at home simply fill your bathtub with warm water and add 1-2 gallons of whole milk.  Lay back and relax!

 

Here are some other uses for milk:

1)   Pre-treater for stains- If you happen to spill some red wine on your favorite dress submerge your stained part of the dress into a bowl of whole milk, squeeze out excess milk, then launder it the way you would normally.

2)   Rescue your plant- Mix 1 part milk with 9 parts water and spray your plants where fungus is present. Repeat weekly to help keep your plan fungus free

3)   Shine your shoes- dampen a cloth or rag with milk and begin to buff your leather shoes back to a perfect shine.

4)   Soothe the burn- Burnt yourself again while cooking? Dab a cotton ball soaked in milk over burn. The milk fat helps to calm the inflammation and speeds up healing.
