Oatmeal is notoriously one of the healthiest breakfast items on the menu. It’s packed with fiber and protein that give your body a healthy start to the day. Did you know that using oatmeal on your face has several benefits as well? Now, I’m not saying go ahead and face plant into your breakfast. There are MULTIPLE different ways you can mix with the oats to create a mask/scrub with ingredients that all come from your kitchen!
Lets first break down why on Earth you should do this a.s.a.p.
Oatmeal can prevent dryness, irritation and aging. The texture of the oats helps buff away dead skin cells. Oats are packed with tons of healthy fats and when mixed with water they break down, creating a film like coating on the skin. This film is also a natural lubricant that adds moisture into the skin and locks it in, keeping the outside elements from reeking havoc on your skin.
Here is my favorite recipe for a really easy oatmeal mask:
- 2 Tablespoons Oatmeal (uncooked)
- 1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
- 1-Tablespoon Honey
Combine ingredients together and gently work into skin. I like to leave it on for 5 minutes to work its magic. Rinse with warm water.
